Summer may be unofficially over, but if you charged a vacation to a credit card, the debt may still be lingering.
In fact, just 26% of 2025 summer travelers who put their travel expenses on a credit card paid off the balance with their first statement, while more than a third still hadn’t paid off what they charged even months after, according to a NerdWallet survey conducted in February 2026.
