According to the UK government’s Individual Insolvency Statistics, the number of personal insolvencies registered in England and Wales increased in March. The total of 12,252 cases represented a three percent rise from the previous month and a thirty percent increase compared to the same period a year earlier.
The monthly total comprised 654 bankruptcies, 4,523 debt relief orders, and 7,075 individual voluntary arrangements. The figure for debt relief orders set a new monthly record since this form of insolvency was established, surpassing the prior high recorded in February.
