A Lake District hotel has been placed in creditors’ voluntary liquidation.
Joint liquidators have been appointed to handle the affairs of the Scafell Hotel Ltd at Rosthwaite in Borrowdale.
According to a notice in the London Gazette, Armstrong Watson has been appointed as joint liquidators.
In October 2023 The Keswick Reminder reported that the landmark hotel had been put up for sale with offers in the region of £2.75m being sought.
It followed the retirement of Miles Jessop who bought the hotel in 1971, aged 29, from the Badrock family who had previously run it for 47 years.
His decision to retire from the business was partly influenced by the health of co-director Andrew Nelson.
