All qualifying North Carolina hospitals, including Alamance Regional Medical Center and others in the Cone Health network, have agreed to participate in a first-of-its-kind initiative that could help low- and middle-income patients get rid of billions of dollars in debt.
The initiative will give the hospitals higher Medicaid payments if the medical debt of low- and middle-income patients is relieved and they carry out ways for future patients to avoid liabilities.
