New $8 million boost for business debt and mental health hotlines

Specialist debt counselling and mental health hotlines for small business operators will continue from July 1, after the federal government pledged $8 million in funding to maintain the frontline services.

Minister for Small Business Anne Aly on Wednesday announced another 12 months of taxpayer funding for the Small Business Debt Helpline and the NewAccess for Small Business Owners (NASBO) program.

The Small Business Debt Helpline, operated by Financial Counselling Australia, offers free and confidential advice on matters like loan repayments, tax and BAS debts, and pathways for businesses facing insolvency.
