STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) – A local nonprofit is stepping up to help the Stevens Point Area Public School District address a mounting school lunch debt that has reached $32,000.
The Power of 5 announced this week it’s donating just over $5,000 to the district. The funds will be used to offset costs associated with helping students pay for their lunches when they don’t have the money.
For the past four years, the Stevens Point Area Public School District has been covering lunch costs for students who can’t afford meals, but that assistance has created a rolling debt that continues to grow.
