Ohio could soon ban residents from using credit cards to fund sports-betting accounts under a draft rule proposed by Gov. Mike DeWine’s administration.
The Ohio Casino Control Commission posted the draft rule Monday and opened public comment through May 15. After that, the regulator must hold a public hearing and send the proposal to a state legislative panel for review.
If approved, the change could take effect later this summer.
The rule would not apply to debit cards, which remain the most common way for bettors to fund their online sportsbook accounts.
