Phil Mickelson called his previous gambling habits “reckless” and “embarrassing” as he opened on his troubled past after arriving in London for the opening LIV Golf Invitational event.
Writer Alan Shipnuck’s biography on Mickelson reported that the six-time major winner suffered gambling losses of over $40 million (A$56m) between 2010 and 2014.
Mickelson says that “hundreds of hours of therapy” have since helped him overcome his gambling addiction.
