It’s been a year since the Rio Olympics, and while the party is long over, the bill is coming due.
Rio Olympics organizers have asked the IOC for assistance in settling $40 million in debt with creditors, according to the Associated Press.
The AP reports Brazilian Olympic Committee President Carlos Nuzman plans to meet IOC officials next week.
Under IOC arrangements that award Olympic host sites, the host city and country are responsible for all debts.
According to the AP, the IOC responded Wednesday with a letter to organizers.
