In Warrington, 379 people entered the Government’s Breathing Space programme in 2025, which offers a 60-day period free from additional interest, charges, and creditor action.
The scheme, also known as the Debt Respite Scheme, provides individuals with time to seek debt advice and develop a manageable repayment plan.
Since its introduction in 2021, a total of 1,704 people in Warrington have used the scheme, reflecting the broader pressures facing households across the country.
