A Royal Caribbean cruise passenger turned his vacation into international headlines after reportedly jumping overboard in Puerto Rico to dodge a hefty casino tab.
Court documents state Jey Gonzalez-Diaz leapt from Rhapsody of the Seas as it returned to the Port of San Juan on Sunday morning. Authorities say he racked up more than $16,000 in gambling losses during the week-long Caribbean itinerary which included a stop in Barbados.
Instead of settling his balance, Gonzalez-Diaz allegedly made a dramatic exit. Witnesses say he splashed into the harbor, a jet skiir picked him up and hitched a ride toward shore. Security footage shows him climbing aboard as the jet ski pulled another rider on an inflatable raft.
His getaway didn’t last long….
