The publication of the independent review into the Australian Office of Financial Management late on Friday, before the Anzac Day long weekend, is a shabby piece of “taking out the trash” by the Albanese government.
It was overkill, given the measured findings of the review conducted by former Reserve Bank of Australia deputy governor Guy Debelle. But it is also a problematic attempt to minimise scrutiny of a crucial matter of public administration.
