More than a third of people asking a city debt charity for help say they have seriously considered or attempted suicide.
That’s why Christians Against Poverty (CAP), which has centres in St Budeaux and Peverell, is calling for people stressed by finances to seek help.
This comes as the UK marks Suicide Prevention Day on Saturday, September 10.
Suicide Prevention Day seeks to reduce the 6,500 people dying from suicide in the UK and NI every year.
CAP’s St Budeaux centre manager, Amy Teague, said some people coming to the charity for help feel suicide is “their only way out”.
