On November 2 last year, Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Treasury Secretary Jenny Wilkinson received an emailed letter from a concerned former official who had worked at the agency responsible for managing almost $1 trillion of government debt.
The former employee at the Australian Office of Financial Management had taken a great career risk in the small Canberra public service bubble by identifying themselves and raising grievances to the treasurer and the Treasury boss.
