Gareth Lloyd-Jones, from Ridgeway Community Church in Wallingford, aims to raise £3,000 for Christians Against Poverty (CAP), a UK charity that offers free, face-to-face debt advice and budgeting support through partner churches.
The funds raised could help around 16 families in poverty access a debt relief order and become debt-free.
Mr Lloyd-Jones said: “We see people’s financial struggles first-hand and it’s heartbreaking to witness.
“For those who are already struggling to make ends meet, just one unexpected bill can start a cycle of debt that’s incredibly hard to break.
