Hospital bills are some of the biggest costs for many Americans. And it’s often a confusing and nontransparent one – prices for any given medical procedure can vary widely, depending on who is billing you.
That’s why a federal regulation that went into effect in 2021 mandated hospitals publicly disclose their prices.
But it turns out, it’s not working.
