In a recent judgment, the Calcutta High Court dismissed a writ petition filed by auction purchasers challenging demands for pre-purchase property tax arrears and upheld the property tax liability of auction purchaser despite of Insolvency Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016.

It was observed that the statutory charge under Section 232 KMC Act overrides the IBC’s general priority mechanism.

The petitioners, Cotton Casuals India Ltd acquired four leasehold factory units and six car parking spaces at Paridhan Garment Park, Kolkata, through an e-auction conducted under the IBC liquidation process of M/s Enfield Apparels Ltd. Possession was handed over on 19.01.2022, and deeds of assignment were executed on 07.05.2022. When seeking mutation of the…

Two directors of a liquidated waste company at the centre of a row over abandoned skips are now back in charge of a new firm. Longport-based Staffordshire Waste Recycling Centre collapsed into liquidation in August.

It followed complaints about the company failing to collect skips from customers’ properties and the Environment Agency removing one of its licences.

Now liquidator Currie Young has sold the Staffordshire Waste Recycling Centre business and assets to Hyper Waste Management. The new company has four directors from the Millward and Preece families – including Liam and Calvin Preece from Staffordshire Waste Recycling Centre.

HYDERABAD: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday described his party’s newly launched ‘Debt Card’ campaign as a “Brahmastra” that has the potential to remove the Congress from power in Telangana.

Rama Rao said the campaign would expose what he termed the state government’s failure to meet its guarantees.

“The Congress symbol, the “hand”, has turned into a hand of destruction for its own party. The Debt Card movement will script the downfall of this government by highlighting how it failed to deliver on its guarantees,” he said.

Welcoming former TDP leader Pradeep Chowdhary

and others from Jubilee Hills into the BRS fold, Rama Rao criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s plans for a ‘Future City’, likening…
