Msunduzi residents and businesses are set to receive major financial relief after the municipal council approved a wide-ranging debt-discount campaign aimed at recovering billions in unpaid accounts while easing pressure on struggling consumers.
The revenue enhancement initiative, which will run from May 1 to December 31, 2026, is designed to help consumers settle outstanding municipal accounts while contributing to the long-term financial sustainability of the municipality.
Under the campaign, qualifying residential, business and other consumers may receive a 50% discount on eligible municipal debt, including service charges, property rates, interest and penalties, subject to approved terms and conditions.
